Yuki's parents divorced when she was very young. Her mother left and married a respectable man.
When Yuki was in junior high, her father was beaten to death at the harbor in a gang-related incident. She had hardly seen him anyway, so she wasn't particularly affected. She only hoped she would never have anything to do with the underworld. Because of her father's death, her grandmother took Yuki, who had just finished her first year of high school, to her grandmother's hometown, Chiba.
As it happened, Yuki transferred to Soft Leaf High School. She heard that her homeroom teacher was a capable and responsible teacher. Looking forward to a new life, she hoped she wouldn't have to go through what she'd experienced at her old school again. Bullying existed everywhere, but in this new environment, nobody knew anyone. She wanted to change and stop making her grandmother worry.
She had thought her new school life would pass by peacefully, until she met that man, Takeshi Sagara.
"Ever since I met you, my life has gone from unfortunate to utterly miserable. I'll slowly move toward death, and even if I make it to heaven, I'll be thrown into hell, where I'll suffer miserably."
That night, Yuki defied Sagara for the first time. The man only gave a mocking smile and raised an eyebrow that might not even have been there.
"Then I guess Yuki-chan will just have to come to hell with me." His smile mocked the girl before him, yet a deep, genuine happiness always welled up inside him. It seemed that hearing her say she'd go to hell with him made him happy despite himself.
Their story is long and complicated. It all began with two righteous delinquents: one with golden-yellow hair, and the other with a spiky head like a sea urchin.
