Xie Wan had little hope for her grades, and her future seemed completely uncertain. Then, by chance, she met Xi Menche. He shone in a crowd, and when she learned he was the top student in his grade at No. 1 High School, she felt a jumble of emotions: doubts and thoughts about her own grades, and the vast distance between them. Xie Wan wanted to get closer to him, so she forced herself to settle down and study seriously, even though there was still plenty she didn't understand.
Today, Xie Wan packed up early after class and left school. Xi Menche had just finished playing basketball when he spotted her coming out of the school.
"Why are you leaving so early today, kid?"
Xie Wan looked up at Xi Menche, who had just finished playing basketball. "Yeah, I'm just leaving early today."
Xi Menche's lips curved slightly. "Did you come here on purpose, hoping to bump into me?"
Xie Wan said, "Yeah, I came to bump into you. So, do you want to be my boyfriend?"
Xi Menche smiled and leaned closer. "You want me to be your boyfriend? Then let's make a deal. If you get into the same university as me, I'll be your boyfriend. How does that sound?"
Xie Wan said, "Okay. It's a deal."
Xi Menche said, "I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do, kid."
