One day, modern-day wizard Alman acts as a shady broker, helping a little mermaid trade her tail for legs so she can go ashore in pursuit of love. He makes a fortune of 520 precious pearl tears, but the Sea God flies into a rage and curses him with a deadly water spell without so much as a word of explanation.
After his luck runs out, Alman begins a nightmarish life: nearly drowning in the bath, nearly choking on a drink, and nearly cracking his head open on the sink after simply washing his hands.
To save his own skin, he grits his teeth and risks becoming a disgrace to all wizards by reporting the curse to the Supernatural Administration and asking for help.
Unexpectedly, the Administration simply waves a hand and sends Fei Yun, its strongest enforcer, to provide him with "close protection."
Everyone in their world knows this enforcer, born into a family of demon hunters. He's not only incredibly strong, but also naturally immune to magic, and treats every species and power listed in the supernatural registry with equal cruelty.
In the past, whenever Fei Yun was sent to handle a case, it was usually because the target couldn't be controlled or rehabilitated and could simply be killed.
Alman: Don't come any closer!
Alman thinks that once he returns the mermaid to the sea and breaks the curse, he can say goodbye to Fei Yun. But Fei Yun's merciless, hardline approach enrages the mermaid, who casts a true-love spell on him as she is sent back to the ocean.
The first person Fei Yun sees after being cursed is Alman, who may end up being the biggest victim of all.
To his horror, the cold-faced enforcer who used to barely give him the time of day has entered full-on courtship mode, wagging his tail in front of Alman every day and begging for kisses and cuddles.
Alman sees black: Aren't you immune to magic?! Don't come any closer!
What a joke! If he got together with an enforcer, especially one from a demon-hunting family whose ancestors made their living hunting witches, his reputation would be ruined in minutes!
He rejects Fei Yun while frantically searching for a way to break the true-love spell. Before he finds even the slightest clue, the two have already ended up in bed and done everything they should and shouldn't have done.
As he gazes for a long time at the naked man holding him as he sleeps, Alman can't imagine how awful things will be for him once the spell disappears.
He screams silently in his heart: Don't go around casting true-love spells!
