The Flower Magician, But from the Start on Meteor Street

A teacher came to Meteor City.

He was learned and knowledgeable, seemingly knowing everything. He had beautiful white hair and uncanny violet eyes. No one knew where he came from. All they knew was that he planned to open a school in Meteor City.

So many children went, including Chrollo.

They shared a deep bond, like father and son.

Until one day, Chrollo's friend was brutally murdered. The man who witnessed it merely uttered a casual remark.① That was when Chrollo realized his teacher had no human heart.

Later, Chrollo founded the Phantom Troupe and left Meteor City. His teacher left Meteor City, too.

When they met again, Chrollo had thought he had forgotten the warmth the man once gave him. He hadn't expected it to break through his defenses all over again.

The man who had once taken such good care of him had not only become more human, but had also gained other students, and more than one.

And they were people Chrollo knew.

Students include, but are not limited to: the Boss, the big black cat from the Zoldyck family, the fruit farmer, the Hunter Association vice chairman, and Special Grade K.

Arthur is the one and only beloved student, but the other students don't want to be rice grains. They want to be the cinnabar mole.

Everyone is a Merlin fan, or a twisted Merlin fan.

This story is also known as Who Is the Teacher's Best and Most Admired Student? (Who else could it be but King Arthur? How could the living compete with the dead? That's a deadpan joke, all right.)

① Merlin didn't say anything particularly harsh. It was a fairly ordinary remark. The Boss simply realized that Merlin had a nonhuman heart. Merlin was not the murderer.

② Merlin's race is incubus, a species of phantasm. He can recognize emotions but cannot sense their precise weight.
