What would you do if the gods truly descended?
Would you follow and devote everything to the god you worship, like the most faithful believer, or hold on and grow close, binding him to your side in the name of friendship and never letting go until death?
Lan Li, a frightened, timid, and insecure wretch, chose the latter.
Then he beheld the most beautiful underwater starry skies, mountains, and forests, and received the god's exclusive favor and gifts. From then on, he could no longer make room for anyone else.
The moonlit elf he witnessed in a dark crevice took him on a journey through the underwater world. It was a fantastical wonder he, a creature of the land, had never seen in his life.
And so he developed a taste for it and grew ever more greedy. He even asked his god for things in the name of friendship, seeking proof that he was special in the god's heart.
And clearly, gods are always especially generous and forgiving toward their believers.
Beneath the azure sky, the merperson gazed across the vast blue sea and gave his sole believer a name: “Lan Li.”
We often use “vast and surging” to describe the sea.
And you are the gift the sea sent me.
