When she was younger, Hua Xiao understood very little about the world and couldn't say what she wanted. Fortunately, she knew exactly what she didn't want: inheriting the family business.
Her mother was, of course, the best mother in the world. But Hua Xiao was determined to defend her right to make her own choices. She would rather take the wrong path than walk one chosen for her. So back then, in a nutshell, there were three major things in her life:
First, apply to the directing program without telling her family;
Second, intern at an entertainment company without telling her family;
Third, enter the entertainment industry as a girl-group idol.
She chose her own path, but everything went in an unexpected direction. The days were wonderful, yet fleeting. First the group became a sensation, then one of its members died, and finally they all went their separate ways.
In the ninth year after her debut, old friends reunited, including Sheng Yi. Hua Xiao couldn't understand why, when their former colleague relationship had been perfectly clear-cut and distant, seeing each other again stirred up feelings like an old flame rekindling. Or was it just the thrill of unexpectedly running into each other in unfamiliar cities? A car accident turned everything upside down. After a difficult recovery, life went on. Gradually, Hua Xiao came to understand the world better. Through Sheng Yi, her friends, and her mother, she gained a deeper understanding of the hardships of life, the weight of love, and the meaning of perseverance. With the arrival of a new tenth anniversary since her debut, she made new resolutions:
First, return to everyday life, stay committed to her career, and remain true to herself;
Second, cherish her relationships and move forward hand in hand with those around her;
Third, as a tribute, a declaration, and a step forward, make a documentary about the group, recording the days of yesterday that are gone forever, the hopeful days of today that will endure, and the eternally unknown days of tomorrow. She would call it Until Dawn Breaks.
And so this story came to be.
