Hu Buyu, a socially anxious nine-tailed fox in secluded cultivation, woke up one day to find his home gone. Developers had drilled straight through it.
Forced down the mountain, he discovered the world had changed beyond recognition. Spiritual energy was as thin as smog, masters were as timid as quails, and all his old neighbors had become great demons from the Classic of Mountains and Seas.
He casually drew a talisman, and they called it a "lost ancient divine charm." He yawned, and they called it a "dragon's roar containing the principles of heaven and earth." He pulled out a blade of grass to feed a rabbit, and they called it a "once-in-ten-thousand-years immortal herb."
The socially anxious nine-tailed fox was praised by a crowd of "masters" and somehow became an unparalleled Celestial Master.
Watching a steady stream of believers arrive to ask him to exorcise evil spirits, the reluctant, socially anxious Celestial Master could only protest: Please, everyone, have some mercy. This fox is scared of ghosts too!
