It's still a cheesy, melodramatic rich-family entertainment-industry novel!
Ke Xiaoman should have been an optimistic, cheerful, gorgeous rich kid with more money than he could ever spend. Instead, he was kidnapped and became a poor little thing who couldn't even eat his fill.
After eighteen years of hardship, Ke Xiaoman's biological parents and eldest brother are preparing to acknowledge him as family.
Who could have guessed! The wicked antagonist, their adopted son, spreads rumors, hires people to hurt him, and even stages a suicide over love, performing his heart out wherever he goes. He makes Ke Xiaoman's family think he's a terrible person, and they treat him with extreme coldness and cruelty!
Ke Xiaoman's heart turns cold. He cuts ties with them and turns to building a career in the entertainment industry.
Great, here comes the love interest!!!
Qi Zhu comes from a wealthy family. He's a legendary movie emperor, ridiculously handsome, and a little messed up because of his family of origin.
Specifically, he really, really likes Ke Xiaoman. The kind of liking where Ke Xiaoman hits him right in the heart at first sight, but he doesn't say so.
He even coolly takes out an agreement and asks Ke Xiaoman to sign it. (Thinking: Haha, now my wife will be tied to me for life.)
Ke Xiaoman likes Qi Zhu too.
Many years ago, Qi Zhu visited his hometown. Ke Xiaoman saw someone as handsome as him for the first time and was completely smitten. Ke Xiaoman even rescued Qi Zhu when he accidentally fell into the water, but sadly, Qi Zhu didn't recognize him.
So when Qi Zhu pulls out this agreement, Ke Xiaoman thinks, There's really such a good deal?
He signs the agreement quickly and forcefully, pressing down so hard the writing nearly goes through the paper!
But a contract lover has to stay in the shadows, and the arrangement hurts one's pride.
Although Qi Zhu is very gentle with Ke Xiaoman, Ke Xiaoman misunderstands and thinks Qi Zhu is only with him out of a sense of responsibility, pity, and sympathy.
It isn't until a car accident, when Qi Zhu loses his life saving Ke Xiaoman, that Ke Xiaoman finally learns of Qi Zhu's love for him.
But don't worry, everyone. Ke Xiaoman is about to be reborn, hehe!
[Content Warnings]
0. Updates at 9 p.m. every day except Wednesdays.
1. On the surface, the gong seems like a gentle, heart-stopping national heartthrob adored by everyone. In reality, he's a messed-up, strong guy who would love to buy an island and lock the shou away on it.
2. The shou is the same. He looks like a pitiful little white flower, but in private he does all that stuff, and more. He's a little crazy.
3. There's a ten-year age gap, with the gong older. I just like the old flame finally catching fire. Paper people don't have that sort of problem!
4. The shou is reborn, has learned to speak up, and has grown a brain.
5. But he's still love-struck.
6. So the part where they deal with the antagonist may not be all that satisfying.
7. Some readers may offer this scathing criticism: Shou, what kind of man are you!
8. Still, as I always say:
9. The internet brings people together by a single thread of fate. We meet because we're destined to.
10. If this isn't your kind of story, don't force yourself. There are plenty of great stories elsewhere.
11. I can't think of anything else to warn you about right now. I'll add more if I think of any.
