Seductive Favorite Concubine | Aloof Beauty Goes Mad for Love | Substitute Identity Exposed | Happy Ending
Life is hard in a time of chaos. Lu Ningsi has finally managed to latch onto a long-term meal ticket who's easy to fool. She's barely had a few days of the good life as a favorite concubine when the city falls and her lord's enemies come knocking.
Thinking fast, Lu Ningsi remembers that her maid and the enemy used to be childhood friends. She immediately steals the childhood friend's name and identity. Facing the executioner's blade, Lu Ningsi steps forward instead of backing away, embracing death with noble resolve. "Fu-ge, Nian Nian has brought shame upon her family. To die by your blade would be worth it!"
Sure enough, Shen Fu lowers his blade.
A stolen identity can't last forever, so to save herself, Ningsi pulls out all the stops to seduce her enemy. Shen Fu clearly blushes whenever he sees her, but he always restrains himself and observes propriety, refusing to cross the line.
At last, Ningsi loses patience. She drugs her enemy with a secret potion and drags him to bed. But once the bed curtains fall, endless sobbing continues through the night. Ningsi's whole body aches, and she curses inwardly: She has never met anyone so hard to please!
After a hard night's work, the man turns cold as soon as he gets out of bed and says he'll send her back to the childhood friend's family. Seeing that her plan is going nowhere, Ningsi simply packs up the gold, silver, and valuables and runs. She's never met anyone so hard to fool. With her beauty and brains, she can find a meal ticket anywhere!

The first time he captures the favorite concubine of his sworn enemy, Shen Fu, the overlord of Qingzhou, is moved by Lu Ningsi's frail appearance, pitiful past, and heartfelt confession. He actually believes she's the childhood friend he lost touch with in his youth.
He takes her home, puts revenge on hold for her, gives up a political marriage for her, and pines for her. He even entrusts her with the household and promises that they will be together for a lifetime, with no one else between them.
When he returns with his army and goes to the childhood friend's family to propose, the woman who appears has a face that's five parts similar to hers, yet entirely unfamiliar. And the woman who promised to wait for him has long since vanished without a trace.
The more Shen Fu investigates, the more alarmed he becomes. The Ningsi he cherished and regarded as a moon above the mountains is actually the favorite concubine of his archenemy, Liu Chi. Liu Chi is so infatuated with her that he even raised her to the rank of secondary wife.
He was actually deceived by a woman like this, spent a wild night with her, and was toyed with in the palm of her hand, fooled into acting like a lapdog at her feet, wagging his tail and begging for scraps.
Shen Fu swears he will march out again. This time, he'll not only kill his sworn enemy with his own hands, but also take revenge on this heartless woman. He'll make her wish she could live, and wish she could die.
