[Blurb]
“Li Pu and Tu Jiao are just ordinary coworkers. I don’t get what there is to ship about them!”
A line of black text on a white background, all sharp edges and claws, appeared in the latest repost on Li Pu’s Weibo page.
Soon, a new message from the manager popped up: Li Pu says he doesn’t want to pretend to be a couple with you anymore.
Tu Jiao looked at the phone screen and smiled politely.
So, when exactly did I ever pretend to be a couple with you?!
Actors from the same company practicing together, appearing on variety shows, filming dramas, and casually chatting, eating, swimming, watching movies, and going shopping together...
Isn’t that normal?!
Season three of the variety show My Treasure premiered. With Li Pu and Tu Jiao having stopped pretending to be a couple, their first appearance together was coming up, and fans from every corner flocked to watch.
Both actors’ individual fans were ready to trade barbs. The ship fans were devastated and ready to turn against them, while the spectators had already grabbed their little stools and settled in to watch the drama unfold.
Then they saw one of them unconsciously reach out to steady the other, only to let his hand fall in disappointment, while the other instinctively looked up with a smile, then hurriedly glanced away...
The audience: ...So, why does their divorced-couple vibe make them even more shippable?!
Give us more! We love this!
Years later, at the latest film awards ceremony, Li Pu won Best Actor.
Those who had once watched the ship We Li Pu Are Tu drift apart couldn’t help reflecting on how quickly the years had passed. They wondered where Tu Jiao, who had long since disappeared from public view, was now.
At that moment, the man holding his trophy curled his lips into a slight smile, his tender gaze settling on someone in the audience. “On this journey, I also have to thank my boss. Without him, I wouldn’t be the happy man I am today...”
The lights dimmed, then focused on a familiar, gentle face that hadn’t been seen in years.
The former ship fans’ jaws slowly dropped. So, we really did ship the real thing?!
I know that a public confession like this could really upset individual fans in real life... This story also explores some of my conflicted thoughts about the entertainment industry. The protagonists will do their best not to hurt others, and even to help them. They’re still just a pair of vague figures in my mind, but I’ll do my best to bring their gentleness to life!
Theme: We’re all adults. If you fall in love, don’t run away.
