How to Run the Greatest Academy in History

What should you do after getting expelled from the Imperial College?

Jiang Ci: To stay in school, I'll just have to swindle the entire court and build an even better academy of my own!

[White Deer Academy, the finest academy of its age and the greatest academy of all time]

[Hailed as the true origin of the ivory tower]

[It is the ideal country and spiritual home of scholars, and the most brilliant chapter in the dynasty's history]

[In a nutshell: If you haven't passed through White Deer Academy's gates, a thousand volumes of reading have all been in vain!]

In response to this shameless boasting to attract students...

The Imperial College's chief instructor sneered: “Fake! What kind of fly-by-night school is this? Don't try to compare yourself to the Imperial College!”

The Imperial College students scoffed: “Only by entering the Imperial College can you rise to greatness.”

Until...

An SSR-ranked Grand Secretary joined White Deer Academy.

An SSR-ranked Minister of Revenue joined White Deer Academy.

An SSR-ranked Prince Rui joined White Deer Academy.

The SSR-ranked chief instructor of the Imperial College switched over to White Deer Academy with his young son, who was still a student.

The spring imperial examinations of the twenty-first year of Yongxi were hailed as the greatest examination list in a thousand years.

The great academies were full of talent, locked in fierce competition, and every candidate they put forward was a once-in-a-century genius.

Then White Deer Academy appeared out of nowhere.

The top three graduates, the top scorer, second-place graduate, and third-place graduate, all came from White Deer Academy.

The second-tier and third-tier successful candidates were swept up by White Deer Academy, which claimed half the entire list.

From then on, its gates were trampled down four times in three days, as countless scholars across the dynasty wept and pleaded for a chance to enroll.

Later, these students from White Deer Academy went on to serve at court and became the backbone of the entire dynasty.

Jiang Ci, who founded White Deer Academy, was not only the top scorer of the twenty-first year of Yongxi. With the support of the academy's students, he also became the great leader who ushered in a golden age, a wise sovereign for the ages.

Looking back, almost everyone believed that Jiang Ci had swindled the entire court into joining his academy to pave the way for his future ascension to the throne.

Jiang Ci: ...Is it possible that becoming emperor was an unintended consequence, and that I really did go to all that trouble to swindle the entire court just to run an academy?

I just happened to turn it into the greatest academy of all time.
