After the Yinzi disaster, Ning Mu finally escaped the endless loop of repeating time, but by then he had been severely corrupted by Yinzi and was terminally ill.
He then unexpectedly learned that the world he lived in was merely a post-apocalyptic coming-of-age comic, and that he was its protagonist. As long as he diligently completed his missions to cure humanity's Yinzi disease and save the world, he could keep his protagonist's aura and avoid a tragic game-over.
Ning Mu raised an eyebrow and smiled. "It's just a cure, right? I'm best at healing people."
Dimensional Converter: Please be careful. Don't let the villains notice you too soon!
Ning Mu was confident. "Got it. I just have to keep a low profile, right? I'm good at that, too."
Later
Dimensional Converter: ...Why does this feel like it's going a little off track?!!!
I thought you meant keeping a low profile. How did you end up on the villains' side???

Yinzi Apocalypse was the hottest comic around.
The strict divisions among its hundred layers of city, the uncanny symptoms of Yinzi disease, treatment centers like a living hell, unknown and desolate places of exile, and reservation camps where the fires of rebellion were lit... Class, human nature, and death were themes woven throughout this apocalyptic comic. In a dark, lightless world that seemed to have no laughter, the figure who always smiled brightly became its warmest and most vivid splash of color.
He healed pain and illness with music, confused enemies and himself with feigned indifference, and hid his scars and past behind a smile.
...He was the only one who could turn back time and bring the story to its end.
"At the end of the long day, I stand before you. You'll see my scars and know that I was once wounded, and that I healed."
PS: Nothing is set in stone before the story begins.
