A seductive undercover reporter vs. a tough, no-nonsense undercover cop
NBC News is the largest professional news company in South City. Shu Wang, a little-known beauty at the station, was assigned an extremely tricky undercover job in her first year on the job.
In a pure white chiffon dress, with a pretty, innocent face and slender, shapely legs, she stood in South City's red-light district, a den of vice and danger.
Before long, a man with a cigarette dangling from his lips and a dangerous, hoodlum air made his entrance. He half-lifted his eyelids and cast a casual glance around. The people nearby fell silent at once.
With a crowd of sleazy men eyeing her, Shu Wang threw caution to the wind and went up to him. Right in front of him, she pretended to twist her ankle in her high heels and fell.
After getting close to him, Shu Wang thought she would have to sacrifice herself for her career.
But... Xie Zhouyan wasn't interested in her looks at all. He was always looking at her with disdain. "Instead of freeloading until you die, why not think about what you'll do later? Wash dishes or wait tables?"
Shu Wang: "..."
She couldn't even get any key information. What kind of boss was this guy? Could he be a cheap knockoff?
She turned to the second-in-command of the group. "I'll wash dishes. Do you think Brother Fei would like a woman who can wash dishes?"
Xie Zhouyan: "..."
-
After the criminal gang running the red-light district was taken down in one sweep, Shu Wang ran into Xie Zhouyan again. This time, she was working undercover as a casino dealer in an underground gambling den, dressed in a deep-V burgundy dress.
The door was kicked open. Xie Zhouyan walked in wearing a crisp police uniform, his gaze clear and his bearing righteous.
At the last moment, as he snapped handcuffs on her and led her to the police car, Shu Wang said, "Are you guys doing cosplay so realistically now?"
Xie Zhouyan replied expressionlessly, "If you won't wash dishes out here, you can wash them in jail. At least there'll be less grease."
-
The station bailed Shu Wang out. Much later, she was arrested and jailed again for "going back to work at a nightclub."
A female intern was on the night shift at the station and saw Team Leader Xie interrogating the suspect with her sitting on his lap.
Shu Wang complained about his roughness. "Those handcuffs really hurt just now."
"And you spend all day nagging me about playing cop and criminal with you." Xie Zhouyan spread her wrist open to look at the marks, smiling suggestively.
"You're a repeat offender now. When are you going to turn over a new leaf? How many times do you expect me to bail you out?"
The intern's eyes widened instantly.
Much later, a rumor went around the station:
Team Leader Xie was all upright and proper, but one beckoning finger from that nightclub girl had him completely smitten.
Later, someone set the record straight: She was NBC's top reporter. In fact, Team Leader Xie had pursued her for ages before she became his girlfriend.
Everyone: "???"
Team Leader Xie: "Thanks for asking, but now she's my wife."
