My name is Fuya Yake Te.
The first time I opened my eyes, I saw the being known as the Supreme One.
I am the Supreme One's second creation. The Supreme One is my "father."
I was very sleepy then. My "father" simply told me to guard Nazarick's Treasury, then let me go back to sleep.
The next few times I woke up, I usually went to play with the Guardians of the other floors, have a fight, or find Big Sister Albedo for a hug and a feel of her enormous wings.
When sleepiness came over me again, I would return to my place of protection and continue sleeping.
I don't know how long this went on. The last time I opened my eyes, just now, I found that I had woken up somewhere other than my place of protection.
I could sense that for a hundred miles in every direction, this place was packed with "insect larvae."
What? You say you don't see them?
Oh, I remember. The word "humans" is more familiar to you than "insect larvae."
Did I sleep too long? Or am I still dreaming? Or has the Great Tomb of Nazarick been breached?
No, no, no. The last one is absolutely impossible.
Then... why am I here? How long have I slept, for even such feeble creatures as "humans" to have learned to survive underwater?
You say that's impossible?
But I'm in a fast-flowing body of water right now, and there's a young human with amber eyes in front of me.
He isn't even trying to struggle. Seeing him made me think humans had evolved to survive underwater.
Ah, he's looking right at me.
How interesting. I mean the desolation and indifference in his eyes. There's not a trace of life in them.
That's really not the sort of look a human should have.
Because of him, I, Fuya Yake Te, the Supreme One's second creation, felt a sudden curiosity about humans.
Even the irritation I'd felt at finding myself somewhere crawling with "insect larvae" has disappeared.
Notes:
1. The female lead is my original creation as the Overlord's second creation. You don't need to know Overlord to enjoy the story.
2. The female lead is a doll, and looks much like a human. After all, she was created by the Overlord, so she has to be inhuman on the inside! (shouting)
3. Pairing: Dazai Osamu. A mutual salvation story in an unconventional sense?
