In the history books, Yan Chengzhou is the founding emperor who built on the achievements of seven generations, destroyed the feudal states, and established the Northern Dynasty, earning merit as great as a mountain.
His son, Yan Zi'ang, dug up the graves of eight generations of ancestors, resisted treacherous ministers, ruined the dynasty, and became a ruler reviled by posterity.
Zhang Qinnian, a Northern Dynasty enthusiast, transmigrated.
Since he was here, he was going to make sure Yan Chengzhou never fathered a ruler who would bring the country to ruin!
Wars needed provisions. Yan Chengzhou's father, the Prince of the North, wanted to reward farming and military service, and planned for Yan Chengzhou to marry the daughter of Yu Lu, the Father of Agriculture...
Holding a copy of Open New Fields and Promote Agriculture, Zhang Qinnian shouted, "I'll do it!"
The Northern Kingdom continued expanding, and planned to find Yan Chengzhou a wife who was the daughter of a capable minister or general...
Zhang Qinnian stayed up all night writing a proposal titled The Strategy of Making Friends with Distant States and Attacking Nearby Ones, then shouted, "I'll do it!"
Watching Yan Chengzhou look at him in an increasingly meaningful way, Zhang Qinnian gritted his teeth, leaned close, and whispered in his ear, "Chengzhou, don't get married! The perfect wife I've found for you is almost old enough. Wait a few more years. You must stay chaste and faithful to him!"
After Yan Chengzhou ascended the throne, Zhang Qinnian and the civil and military officials submitted a petition: The time has come, Your Majesty, please marry!
Yan Chengzhou issued a decree, making Zhang Qinnian his empress.
Yan Chengzhou watched the officials, trying to talk him out of making Zhang Qinnian his empress, gather beautiful women from across the land to sing and dance seductively.
He said coldly, "I'll tell you what the beauty trap is..."
His gaze shifted to Zhang Qinnian. "The beauty trap is when someone I consider ideal shows me affection."
Zhang Qinnian looked completely bewildered. Who? Me?
