The Sea God's Game

Bai Shu knows that humankind originated in the ocean, and that civilization was nurtured by the sea.

Until an irresistible force brings him to this eerie, terrifying island.

Only then does he understand that the ocean can create gods, too.

He, they, or those things are all sacrifices in a ritual to verify the existence of the true god.

When the lighthouse beam shines, the red tide rises.

Will he heed the call of the old gods, witness the secrets stained in blood, and see a god come into being, or...

Will he take up the blade and slay the god?

The unserious version:

Bai Shu (watching the others enviously): "I heard the most valuable thing around here is a divine core, right?"

Some Quan: "Baby, look." (He takes out the fist-sized divine core of Ears's Dream.)

"Would this do, baby?" he asks sincerely.

Bai Shu: "…"

"But we're all sacrifices. Didn't you know that sacrifices aren't allowed to date each other?"

Bai Shu blinks innocently, politely turning him down.

Some Quan hesitates for a second. "Then... can I go ask Old Wu to change that now?"

"But, baby, Old Wu never listens to me. He always likes to go against me, and I can't kill him." His voice grows increasingly dejected.

The Sea God Usagel's thoughts: ...Bro, is this really why you have to mess with me?! Good thing I'm immortal. Phew.

Bai Shu goes from shocked to unconvinced to suspicious. "Come on, tell me straight. What kind of gang are you from? Are you black or white?"

Island slang: Black means evil god, white means benevolent god.

Some Quan: "I'm neither black nor white. I just want you to love me."

Bai Shu: "...Okay, I'll give that love confession a hundred points."
