[The author's other novel, After the Scorned One Proves the Dao, the Aloof Immortal Venerable Goes Mad, is now out. Synopsis below.] [Updated through the disciple's corruption arc!]
Xie Jingchen, the ethereal Immortal Lord Qingchen, as cool and clear as the moon reflected in water, has a secret little quirk: he loves all kinds of fluffy things.
So he filled the mountain behind his home with spirit pets. One day, he found an especially beautiful beast egg.
But after he cared for it so attentively, what hatched was a little blue dragon covered in scales from head to toe.
Xie Jingchen: Where's the fluffy thing I was promised?!
But looking at its watery eyes and hearing its mew-like calls, he watched as its tiny claws clutched at the hem of his robe. "Awoo."
Xie Jingchen's heart softened anyway. He took it in as his disciple and named him Su Xuan.
His little disciple was sweet and adorable. He poured Xie Jingchen tea when he was thirsty, brought him extra clothes when it was cold, and even helped handle the sect's affairs, big and small.
Xie Jingchen suddenly realized that even non-fluffy spirit pets could be pretty cute. And his little disciple's horns were quite nice to rub, too.
It never occurred to him that the gaze his little disciple turned on him was growing more and more intense.
Master should belong to one person alone!
So every spirit pet on the mountain vanished overnight. Su Xuan wrapped his tail around his master, who now stood half a head shorter than him, and held him close. His eyes were full of gloom.
"Master, feel my horns. They're fluffy too."
Trembling, Xie Jingchen pushed away the hand his disciple had wrapped around his waist.
Xie Jingchen: I've kicked the habit, thanks...
Locked in a dark room, Xie Jingchen couldn't understand how his once-obedient little disciple had turned into this.
To protect his delicate little flower, Xie Jingchen took the opportunity to escape. With no way back to the sect, he transformed into a rabbit demon and went to the demon realm to enjoy a leisurely life of petting fluffy things every day.
Before long, the demon realm welcomed a new Demon Emperor. Xie Jingchen went with the rabbit tribe to the capital to pay his respects.
But why did the fierce-looking Demon Emperor seated high above look exactly like his own misbehaving disciple?!
Su Xuan spotted Xie Jingchen at a glance among the demons, trying to hide by keeping his head down. Propping his head on one hand, he said in a deliberately casual tone, "I happen to be in need of a Demon Empress."
Xie Jingchen, chosen for no apparent reason: Hold on, I'm a male rabbit!
Bonus scene:
Xie Jingchen: You brat, how dare you betray your master and destroy your ancestors... Mmph...
Su Xuan: This disciple only wants to betray his master, not destroy his ancestors.
A seemingly aloof but soft-hearted master bottom x a sweet and adorable disciple who becomes a scheming, obsessive top

After the Scorned One Proves the Dao, the Aloof Immortal Venerable Goes Mad
Ji Mingchen lost both parents when he was young and was raised by his betrothed. They were meant to marry as soon as the wedding date arrived.
But he knew his betrothed didn't like him.
Chi Ji was the moon in the clouds, a pine tree in the mountains, a future Immortal Venerable, and the brightest jewel in the entire cultivation world.
Ji Mingchen was as lowly as a speck of dust by the roadside. They simply weren't a good match.
But Ji Mingchen didn't care. He believed that one day Chi Ji would notice him, the one who had always stood behind him.
So he took care of all the little things for him, leaving him free of worries.
He was willing to be covered in wounds if it meant saving him.
And he dragged his ailing body through soul cultivation to help him break through sooner.
Even knowing that Chi Ji had someone else in his heart, someone Ji Mingchen would always have to come second to, he still gave up his parents' keepsake without hesitation to save that person when they were gravely injured.
At least his devotion finally seemed to pay off: Chi Ji agreed to marry him.
On the wedding day, thunder rolled across the sky, and everyone lamented that even the heavens opposed their marriage.
But only Ji Mingchen knew that it was Chi Ji's tribulation. The only way to overcome it was to kill his wife and prove the Dao.
As the long sword pierced his heart, he understood that Chi Ji had agreed to marry him only to protect the one he loved.
When he opened his eyes again, he was back three years in the past, before his illness had become terminal.
Guarding his parents' keepsake, Ji Mingchen walked away without a second thought. He would no longer be hurt by Chi Ji's coldness.
But this time, the fellow disciples who had once mocked him treated him with great respect. The uncle and aunt who had once been cold to him showed him concern at every turn, and even the sect leader began grooming him as a successor.
Even Chi Ji, usually as cool and aloof as the moon, lost his composure. He gripped Ji Mingchen's wrist tightly, his eyes filled with pain and madness that Ji Mingchen couldn't understand. "You are not leaving."
Ji Mingchen said nothing. Just as he had back then, he drove his sword into Chi Ji's heart.
It was time Chi Ji learned what it felt like to have his heart torn apart.

Ber? No. No. How can I be stuck here 😭
"Everyone has their own characteristics. Whether they look good or not is the preference and judgment of others. We don't need to care about it. We just need to cultivate in the Qin family and enrich our inner being." ""Catch a big bug for the author~
"Xie Jingchen wiped his face angrily and dissatisfied again. Is this guy born in the year of dragon or dog? Why is the teacher licking himself?!" This is a big bug for the author~ The teacher is wrong
", Retreat should be jealous and quiet," this is a big bug for the author~ Wrong here
