Yun Sui accidentally dreamed that she was the heroine of a storybook and had an unusually close relationship with a junior disciple named Lan Yin.
Lan Yin was gentle and kind, and had risked his life again and again to save her from danger.
In the dream, she was tender and considerate toward this junior disciple, doting on him in every way. Yun Sui even began to wonder if someone had taken over her body.
But the good times didn't last.
The storybook's villain, Xie Buyan, hid his identity as a member of the demon clan and joined the Qingyun Sect on Pingyue Mountain to steal the sect's secret treasure, becoming her junior disciple.
Years later, Xie Buyan took the secret treasure while the sect leader was gravely injured.
He slaughtered the sect and locked her and her fellow disciples in the Netherworld Ghost Prison, forcing the sect leader to trade the treasure for their lives.
Lan Yin died alongside the demonic villain Xie Buyan to save her. When she woke up, Yun Sui was shocked to discover that everything was unfolding just like in her dream.
With her intervention, the Qingyun Sect unusually took no new disciples that year.
Yun Sui breathed a sigh of relief and began paying attention to Lan Yin, who was usually shy and quiet.
Lan Yin had a handsome face, and even she, who wasn't easily swayed by male beauty, gradually lost herself in his tender, affectionate calls of “Senior Sister.”
Remembering how Lan Yin had repeatedly played the hero and saved the beauty in the storybook, Yun Sui looked forward to seizing the perfect opportunity to grow closer to him.
But the hero who showed up wasn't Lan Yin. It was an obscure young disciple.
Once would have been one thing, but this disciple kept beating Lan Yin to the punch.
Yun Sui was thoroughly furious. “Hey, who are you? Can you stop getting in the way?!”

In his previous life, Xie Buyan failed to steal the secret treasure. Someone knocked him off a cliff, then killed him with a single sword strike.
When he opened his eyes, he had returned to five years earlier, reborn in the body of an ordinary man named Luo Manyi.
At the time, Luo Manyi was surrounded by demon beasts. Thanks to the help of Qingyun Sect disciples, he not only survived, but was also brought back to the sect as an outer disciple.
Xie Buyan sneered. This couldn't be easier.
He secretly swore that once he got the secret treasure, he would kill everyone in the Qingyun Sect, leaving no one alive.
By chance, Xie Buyan learned that the sect leader intended to choose a husband for his daughter, Yun Sui. The disciple chosen would very likely become the sect's next leader.
Thinking of all the hard work he'd put into stealing the secret treasure in his previous life, he decided to change tactics and set his sights on Yun Sui instead.
He vaguely remembered that in his previous life, Lan Yin had saved Yun Sui's life many times and won the praise of the sect leader and the elders.
Following his memories, Xie Buyan seized the initiative and saved Yun Sui again and again. He thought he could win her favor, but all he got in return were repeated, displeased thank-yous.
Xie Buyan's face darkened. In his previous life, she hadn't treated that two-faced green tea Lan Yin like this.
