Gu Huaiqi has always had it easy.
Born into a wealthy family, he could lie flat and enjoy a life of luxury. Handsome as he is, he can't stand women fawning over him.
Until one afternoon, when the dog next door nearly scratches through his apartment door.
At their first meeting, Gu Huaiqi looks wary and openly scornful.
This girl may be pretty, but her tactics are way too obvious.
When they meet again in town, he frowns with a hint of exasperation.
Is she wearing a tracking device on me? Why is she everywhere I go?
But before heading out, he secretly straightens his collar in the mirror.
Later, he can't tear his eyes away from Xia Ran, who's fallen asleep at her desk after staying up all night working on a design proposal.
Damn it, why does she look cuter the longer I look at her...
Later still, Xia Ran calmly says she's going on a breakup-themed dating show with her scumbag ex.
He tosses out a sarcastic "Great," but his face is so dark that even passing dogs tuck their tails and run.

Word gets around that Young Master Gu, who went off to some unknown town on a whim, is running a murder-mystery game cafe to great success and has no intention of returning to the city.
His friends can't contain their curiosity, so they band together and head over to investigate.
At the dinner table, Gu Huaiqi, usually so poised and confident, looks bored. He keeps checking his phone and even leaves halfway through the meal.
One of the curious guests quietly follows him.
They see him, usually so proud and unruly, hanging his head in dejection, drunk and sulking at his phone:
"Everyone else's girlfriend checks up on them. Why don't I have one?"
Before long, a sweet, clear voice comes through the phone: "Stop being dramatic. I'll come get you when I'm done."
His friends: !!!
