[Chinese-Style Cthulhu + Infinite Flow, with Horror Elements and Fictional Folklore]
Sanity-stable heroine x sanity-shattering hero
When you fall from a great height in a dream, then wake to find yourself on the floor, your back aching from the impact, have you ever wondered whether you fell in the dream first, or fell out of bed in reality first?
A sudden storm. An ancient, isolated island. Thousands of tourists trapped there, and she is the only police officer.
Zhong Ming thinks this might be the biggest hurdle of her career.
That is, until tourists start dying one after another in their dreams, and the island's natives draw eerie symbols on their foreheads with the blood of fallen seagulls, raising a great cry to welcome the god's return.
She escapes from a dream that is disorienting yet all too real, then stays awake through the night, eyes open. At last, she realizes the truth is far more horrifying than she ever imagined.
In a cave that is both damp and dry, both cold and stuffy, Zhong Ming meets a man.
At first, he is curled up in a corner like a puppy abandoned by everyone. But when she approaches, he turns alertly, his face cold and expressionless.
He looks like a boy, but his voice sounds like that of an old man:
"You didn't enter a dream. You entered another world."
"What kind of world?"
The boy lowers his gaze to her, like an ancient god with no mercy in his heart.
"My world."
A few quick notes
1. A fictional world and setting, unrelated to reality.
2. The heroine is an ordinary person. The hero is not an ancient god.
