Jun Chenjie is the concubine of Bu Qingyan, the ailing seventh son of General Bu.
Everyone in the household knows she's an orphan. If the Bu family hadn't accidentally dragged her into a bandit-clearing campaign and caused her to lose her memory, they would never have married her into the family. Fortunately, she married Bu Qingyan, the scholar who was the only one in the family unable to practice martial arts. And fortunately, she was given only the status of a concubine.
But this woman surnamed Jun was anything but docile. After giving Bu Qingyan a son and a daughter, she actually started thinking she mattered. Day after day, she urged her husband to study military strategy and even dreamed of observing military drills in the army.
Later, when the city gate the Bu family guarded fell, the whole family fled in panic. No one paid any attention to a lowly concubine like her or her unloved daughter.
But when they saw Jun Chenjie again, she was leading troops to surround their manor. They watched helplessly as she raised her blade and cut down every man in the Bu family.
Including her son and her former husband.
Years later, Jun Chenjie sat high upon the dragon throne, gazing over the vast realm below as all her subjects paid homage.
She sighed softly. "So this is what it feels like to stand alone. I like it very much."
P.S.
1. The writing style is on the simple side.
2. All of the heroine's husbands will die, and all of her children will die too.
3. This really is a strong female lead story, but the romance may be a little angsty. That's why it's tagged as an angst story, to give everyone a heads-up.
4. The heroine is not a good person. She is not a good person!
