Cheng An

The Jiang family of the Duke of Weiguo's residence in Great Liang has commanded the Northern Frontier Army for four generations, standing firm as a boundary marker for Great Liang. Of the thirteen members of the third generation beneath that marker, only one was left in Chang'an.

Jiang Cheng'an was that troublesome hot potato left behind in Chang'an.

His aunt, the empress, doted on him, while his unruly friends were fiercely loyal.

Qin Guannan often wondered how a southern barbarian like him, who had come to serve the empire, could possibly make his way through the crowds and catch this man's eye.

He waited until the red robes were traded for a monk's kasaya, until this star in the heavens, this snow on the mountain peak, was covered in mud.

More often, Qin Guannan found himself thinking that whether or not he caught Jiang Cheng'an's eye didn't seem so important anymore. He wanted more to see this star shine in the heavens once again, to become the most dazzling young man in all of Great Liang.
