Liang Yi takes home a child whose parents have both died and who's been wandering the streets.
It is only a passing act of kindness. The child is pitiful, but Liang Yi never intended to raise him. He's just about to get his career off the ground, he's busy with work, and he's exhausted every day. Taking care of himself is already a hassle, let alone looking after a child too.
But the child refuses to leave. He cries and kneels down to beg him.
"Big brother, please take me in."
"I don't have a mom or dad anymore. I just want a home."
Even Liang Yi never expected that taking him in would last for eight years.

Zhou Jinye's life changed dramatically when he was ten.
He no longer had a mom or dad, but he had a big brother. His brother was ten years older, which was an entire lifetime to him.
To him, Liang Yi was the big brother he could always rely on.
Over the next eight years, he learned to call him "big brother" at every turn. Even his classmates knew how close they were, and that they depended on each other. He learned to rely on his brother, and... to love him.
Seventeen-year-old Zhou Jinye had seen his brother fresh out of the shower before, but this was the first time he blushed.
A profound sense of shame engulfed him.
How could he have improper thoughts about the big brother he respected and loved so much?
-
Liang Yi did notice that something was a little off.
First, Zhou Jinye inexplicably kept his distance for a day or two. When he came home from school, he seemed no different from usual, but he was no longer as close to Liang Yi.
Then Liang Yi noticed the burning glances Zhou Jinye occasionally sent his way.
They weren't the sort of looks a younger brother gave his big brother.
Liang Yi knew Zhou Jinye was already eighteen. He wasn't a child anymore. He had grown into a man, with broad shoulders and defined abs, young and brimming with hormones. Sometimes Liang Yi even had to look up at him.
But Zhou Jinye was still ten years younger than him.
Liang Yi thought he was despicable. How could he feel attracted to a kid?
Liang Yi began carefully avoiding him, avoiding those scorching glances that made his heart race and his cheeks burn.
When the college entrance exams were over, he asked Zhou Jinye what he wanted as a graduation gift.
Zhou Jinye lowered his eyes and carefully cupped his brother's face.
Liang Yi suddenly felt something soft and warm on his lips.
Zhou Jinye called to him softly,
"...Big brother."
