Qiu Lan and Gao Yicheng met in a college anime club group chat.

Ever since seeing Qiu Lan's art, Gao Yicheng had hoped he would stop being a doctor.

Become a carefree artist, make a living from your talent, and become famous!

But...

Gao Yicheng received over a hundred thousand yuan in red-envelope money every year, was studying mathematics at a top Chinese university, was tall and handsome with a gentle manner, and planned to apply to a master's program at a top 20 university abroad. He probably couldn't understand Qiu Lan's predicament: his family had little savings and a mortgage to pay, his parents worked away from home, and he had to look after his twin brothers, who were still in primary school.

The top is a math major who switched fields to pursue a graduate degree in finance. The bottom studied medicine before switching to illustration.

(Things are very innocent at first. After they get together... "Kiss me." Gao Yicheng pinned Qiu Lan against the wall. "Keep kissing me until I'm satisfied."

A friendship that turns into love. For the first ten chapters, they're just friends. Their feelings develop gradually, and they slowly realize what they mean to each other. They aren't pining from the start.

Other notes:

1. The bottom thinks he's straight and spends many chapters agonizing over it. The early conflicts aren't very pronounced, but more will come to light as the story goes on.

2. There are quite a few anime-related elements, as well as career changes and graduate school admissions in another field. Both leads get a happy ending. 1v1, happy ending.

3. The top has an ex-boyfriend who appears in only one chapter as a minor character. No misunderstandings or melodrama. This is basically about two twenty-year-olds unsure of what the future holds, going naturally from friends to pining to lovers.

4. The story takes place from 2017 to 2019, so chat messages may include emoticons like "= =".
