Unrequited Love Has No Words to Prove It

The night was bright, and the evening breeze, heavy with summer moisture, brushed across their cheeks.

It was Wen Xin's first time drinking cocktails. Her friend Lin You Nian had said the drinks here were pretty strong, so Wen Xin cautiously started with one glass. When she felt no different and her head was still clear, she gave in and had two more.

Now the alcohol hit her out of nowhere. Wen Xin felt as if she were drifting over churning waves. Her head spun, her vision gradually blurred, but she still forced herself to sit upright.

"Hey, Xie Chengyuan, you're heading that way anyway. Could you take Wen Xin home?" It sounded like the class monitor, but the words weren't clear.

Xie Chengyuan.

What a distant name, and yet one Wen Xin would remember even if she were reduced to ashes.

Then she heard a cool, low male voice agree.

Her remaining awareness gradually faded...

With a click, the door of a black Land Rover opened.

Xie Chengyuan bent down and carefully settled the person in his arms into the car seat, then fastened her seat belt.

Just as he was about to straighten up, the person in front of him hooked an arm around his neck.

"You Nian... I saw Xie Chengyuan again..." The girl's voice was soft, like she was talking in her sleep. She spoke each word slowly, while the index finger of her other hand traced a pointless circle in the air.

"Heh." After a moment of silence, the girl turned her head to the side. A faint, careless smile appeared on her face. Her eyelids fluttered, and her curled lashes trembled twice.

"I'm going to sleep with him someday." Her tone was petulant, almost annoyed.

Then she buried her face in the arm Xie Chengyuan had yet to pull away and fell completely silent.

A moment later, a voice with the cool, deep resonance of a young man sounded in the air, tinged with tenderness.

"All you do is make promises..."

"Hurry up..."

"I've been waiting a long time."
