Beauty's Scheme to Win the King's Heart

Ji Dai had been married into the Marquis's household for two years, but she had never won her husband's affection. The couple treated each other like ice-cold strangers, until the day Pei Wei fell and hit his head, losing his memory.

Looking at her husband, who had forgotten everything, she gritted her teeth, threw herself into his arms, and wept as if the world were ending.

"Husband, thank goodness you woke up. I nearly followed you to the afterlife."

Pei Wei was deeply moved. My wife loves me this much!

"Husband, you said you'd cherish and love me for the rest of your life. You said you'd always listen to me: if I said east, you wouldn't go west. You even said I was your precious sweetheart."

Pei Wei was astonished. Did I really say all that?

"Husband, do you remember that night beneath the flowers and moon, when you held me and spun me around the courtyard, shouting to the moon, 'I won't part from you unless the mountains crumble and heaven and earth unite'?"

Pei Wei was baffled. I loved her so much that I'd do something this embarrassing?

"Husband, the moonlight is lovely tonight. Will you hold me and spin me around again?"

"That doesn't seem quite approp..." Under the young woman's wounded, helpless gaze, the word on Pei Wei's lips changed to, "Of course."

Ji Dai finally got to enjoy the loving married life she had always wanted.

One day, Ji Dai came across an intensely romantic love letter in a storybook and was so moved that she immediately found a scholar skilled at imitation and had him forge a letter in Pei Wei's handwriting.

"Husband, that love letter you wrote for me last year was so wonderful. It's a shame there was only one."

Pei Wei glanced at the clumsy imitation, then looked at Ji Dai with a complicated expression. After a few moments of thought, he silently picked up his brush.
