Afraid to Die, So I Maxed Out My Partner's Defense

Overnight, the world seemed to turn strange.

Game blogger Shi Yuan stayed up all night livestreaming the newly released hit game Endless Curse.

The next day, he went to class with dark circles under his eyes and found a crowd gathered in a copse, kneeling and licking the dirt.

At lunchtime, he found a writhing tentacle in his food in the cafeteria.

In the afternoon, his history teacher's eyes were bloodshot, and he kept muttering "curse" and "destruction"...

This was bad.

Shi Yuan fled back to his dorm and searched the news on his computer.

The screen suddenly went black. A moment later, a line of flickering pixel text appeared.

[Data intrusion successful. Soul contract completed :)]

An almost inaudible breath came from behind him. Shi Yuan slowly turned around and saw his mortal enemy and ex-boyfriend standing there. His handsome face was deathly pale, and he stared into Shi Yuan's eyes with the gloomy look of a spurned lover.

Shi Yuan: ?!

Bad news: The world has been invaded by a game.

Good news: He and his mortal enemy have become partners, and their defense is 999999999999999...

Even worse news: The game has a bug. Its System has identified the two of them as NPCs, and so has the real world's System.

After figuring out what was going on, Shi Yuan stared for a long time at the quest list's "Blow up the school" and "Defend the school."

Then he broke into an excited grin, grabbed his dead-guy partner's hand, and said passionately:

"What a great opportunity! Let's be double agents who play both sides!"

*Soul Tower and Warrior setting: The Soul Tower cannot die, while Warriors can spend Luck to revive at the Soul Tower indefinitely (but their Luck is 0).

*An emotionally repressed, secretly lovesick top whose only hard things are his defense, his mouth, and his **, as a Soul Tower X a timid, wild, and masterfully performative bottom as a Warrior.

*Level-up progression, perhaps a very long series.

*The inspiration behind the blurb has been archived on Weibo from start to finish.

Theme: New life awaits in desperate circumstances
