Mist and Long Winds

/He is like a thin mist spreading over a quiet cove at dawn,

while she rides the long wind, breaking through the haze./

After bringing home his mentor’s granddaughter, Lu Changwei left her in his assistant’s care, convinced he had done all he could, and rarely asked after her.

He never expected the young girl to become so attached to him.

Lu Changwei refused in no uncertain terms:

He was much older than her and was her elder; her studies should be her priority right now; she was still too young to understand…

Later, he accidentally discovered that all the girlish feelings recorded in her diary were about other boys.

That was when he realized she was a complete liar.

Lin Luting’s parents had both died, and all her relatives wanted nothing to do with her. The only person willing to offer her shelter was someone who claimed to have once been her grandfather’s student.

She wanted to hold on to him, and would stop at nothing to do so.

Until another woman appeared by his side.

Everyone said the eldest son of the Lu family of Jincheng and the heiress of Hengfu were a perfect match, made for each other.

Even in the financial news, the two looked perfectly suited together in their photos.

Lin Luting quietly packed her bags and crossed the ocean.

Years later

The man across from them stared in a certain direction, then suddenly scoffed.

Everyone exchanged glances. Who in their circle didn’t know that after the “canary” kept by Young Master Lu had flown away, he had grown more and more unpredictable?

Half joking and half cautiously, someone asked, “Who’s upset you this time, sir?”

Lu Changwei’s voice was cold as ice. “She’s gotten quite bold. She went abroad and came back knowing how to go on dates with men.”
