Guanzhuo is a succubus who has to live among humans in disguise for 1,000 days.
After living in the human world for 999 days, she was getting ready to clock out, turn in her assignment, and enjoy a nice, long sleep. But the very next moment, a System inexplicably transported her into a game world.
The System told her that she had to play the murderer in a game scenario and let the players kill her or face a punishment. Only then would she have a chance to get out and sleep as much as she wanted.
Watching the progress bar that was almost full drop back to zero, Guanzhuo instantly refused to cooperate. She found a spot, lay down to sleep, and slapped the System to show her displeasure.
Seeing the players enter the game but no sign of the murderer, the System, with half its functions knocked out, gave in. It promised Guanzhuo a dozen or so days of sleep for each task she completed. Only then did she get up and begin her long stretch of working to earn time to sleep.
At first, Guanzhuo was curious about how long it would take the players to figure out she was the murderer, so she started putting on a performance. But before she could even show off her acting skills, the players ruled her out as a suspect.
Player: “With your frail body, falling over at the slightest push and turning red at the slightest pinch, you're a murderer? You're more like cannon fodder.”
Guanzhuo: “...”
After struggling through a whole string of hardships, Guanzhuo finally completed the task. She began to wonder if the players in that scenario had just been too stupid to figure out she was the murderer. So in the next few tasks, she started leaving all kinds of clues behind.
Fingerprints on the murder weapon, nail marks on the corpse, even stealing evidence to make the players suspicious of her. But the results were not what she had hoped for.
Player 1: “Why are your fingerprints on the murder weapon? Someone must be trying to frame you. I'll find new clues and clear your name.”
After saying this, Player 1 casually destroyed the murder weapon.
Guanzhuo: No, I mean, fine if you don't suspect me, but why destroy the evidence?
Player 2: “Why are there your nail marks on the body? Did he hurt you? Are you injured?!”
After saying this, Player 2 turned the corpse on the ground over and over, searching for clues. But they weren't looking for the murderer. They were looking for evidence that she had been hurt.
Guanzhuo: No, hey, isn't the point to find the murderer? Why are you looking for other things? Even if it's just a game, shouldn't you take it seriously?
Player 3: “Why did you take the evidence? Is there something you don't understand? I can explain it to you.”
After saying this, Player 3 took Guanzhuo and the hard-won evidence over to a chair and patiently explained it to her.
Guanzhuo: Hey, who steals evidence just because they have a question?
After going through one setback after another, Guanzhuo finally let herself go completely.
Guanzhuo pointed at herself. “I'm the murderer.”
He walked over with a smile and rubbed her head. “All right, don't cause trouble. If you're bored, just stand over there and watch me solve the case.”
Guanzhuo: ...When will I finally get to have one long, wonderful sleep?
