The court is corrupt and incompetent. The Wushi tribes of the steppe seek to overrun the Central Plains, and the jianghu is in turmoil.

The Qin family, the greatest weapon-crafting masters in the jianghu, was slaughtered overnight. Their only daughter escaped by sheer luck and, under the assumed name Yao Wubi, sought an opportunity for revenge.

The land was broken, and pursuers followed like shadows. Yao Wubi poisoned Song Yuan, a swordsman with a secret of his own, and forced him to join her. They disguised themselves as husband and wife to enter Shengjing.

Shengjing was a place where all sorts of people mixed together. The enemy's lackeys watched them like hawks, and Yao Wubi's path to revenge was fraught with danger. One force after another took the stage, and when the strong crossed paths, only the stronger would prevail.

Private desires shaped the jianghu; ambition paved the way to power.

As Yao Wubi and Song Yuan grew more familiar with each other, they discovered at the moment they were closest that they were nothing but strangers.

Both were rotten people with ten thousand schemes each, gradually shedding their disguises and secret identities, all so they could deal each other a fatal blow.

One blade, one heart, tempered again and again. They understood each other through their similarities, yet could not bring themselves to love.

One wanted to leave the stage halfway through, while the other was already too deep in character.
