Her family fortune had been seized, Baoyu had married, and Daiyu had only just recovered from a serious illness when the Jia family married her off to the Chen family, one of the Four Princes and Eight Great Houses. She expected another difficult life, but her husband was considerate and attentive in every way.

Apart from the usual "troubles" that came with a great clan, Daiyu had nothing to complain about.

Faced with unkind elders, feuding brothers, hostile sisters-in-law, and unruly servants, Daiyu said, "After what I went through with the Jia family, these are all minor problems..."

The frail Chen Yu was about to marry. His bride was the Lin family's young lady, also delicate and sickly, whose parents had both died and who had been adopted by the Rongguo Mansion.

He had prepared himself to protect and care for his fragile wife, but the young woman who entered the household was clever and perceptive, every bit as capable as any household manager.

Watching his wife show off her skills, Chen Yu said smugly, "See that? That's my wife!"

In the midst of all the gossip about a frail bride marrying a frail groom, the couple relied on and supported each other.

Chen Yu: My wife is wonderful. I think I can live to be a hundred.

Daiyu: My husband is so frail. I can't stop worrying about him, so I have to live a long, healthy life.

Core theme: Love life.
