[An artsy heroine with plenty of fighting spirit VS a scheming, tea-sipping CEO hero]
Bai Kaixuan's projects kept flopping in bizarre ways, earning her the nickname "the entertainment industry's jinx." After three years in the business, she was still a nobody. So when she was appointed Mountain God, she refused: she'd had enough trouble with the supernatural and wanted nothing to do with it.
The mountain's many immortals and demons also balked at the thought of having a human Mountain God. Their previous lord had been a powerful Li Dragon, and the difference was simply too much to accept.
But fate had already been decided, so the immortals and demons could only comfort one another: Humans only live for a few decades, so there was no need to rush.
Every new Mountain God receives a gift from the Heavenly Dao upon being enshrined. Bai Kaixuan received the world's one and only "Enlightenment Seal," which could awaken those whose cultivation had stalled and help successfully cultivated demons take human form.
The immortals and demons on the mountain: "...We may have raised our voices just now. Surely Mountain God won't hold it against us."
Bai Kaixuan discovered that being a Mountain God could actually help her career. For example, during an audition for an animal trainer role, a mighty lion that had just scared off several popular actresses behaved sweetly with her. "I heard you want a cat. Just call me Kitty." And she got the role.
While filming an antiques appraisal variety show, an inconspicuous little stone in the corner of a street stall grew frantic. "Help me become a spirit! Take me away!" The crew uncovered a top-grade piece of jade, and viewers reposted the clip to share in her good luck.
Just like that, she went from an obscure actress to a hugely popular leading lady.
When she went to discuss a contract with the CEO, Long Mingyu said coolly, "These are the terms our company is offering. You can compare them with other companies." But the parrot behind him loudly gave him away: "He's pretending! He can't live without you!"
Bai Kaixuan: "???"
Theme: Take another path and become the person you're meant to be.
