The Background Character’s Glow-Up into Everyone’s Favorite

Meng Xinquan is pulled into an old novel. He's an utterly ordinary passerby with no role to play, and the System tells him he must raise his affinity with the F4 to gather energy and come back to life.

F4?

Does the protagonist race cars?

When he opens the story, Meng Xinquan's eyes light up. It turns out F4 is short for the four protagonists.

If all four of them contribute the energy he needs to live, this should be a piece of cake.

He caters to the charming F1's tastes, and they spend their days indulging in romance and wild revelry.

He discusses astronomy, geography, art, and philosophy with the cultured F2, and they confirm that they are kindred spirits destined to meet.

F3... F4...

Meng Xinquan comes up with unique ways to confess his feelings, getting close and cuddly with every friend.

Everything goes smoothly. Just as Meng Xinquan is congratulating himself on his irresistible charm, he realizes that the boat of friendship has capsized.

Friend A wants to hold hands when they walk. Friend B wants cuddles at the movies. Friend C wants to climb into his bed at night!

By the time Meng Xinquan realizes what is happening, someone is holding his left hand, someone else has grabbed his right, and another person has an arm around his waist.

He looks around and sees the one friend left standing watching him with a dangerous look in his eyes.
