In the thirty-second year of the Jingyuan era, the third prince, Sheng Changying, plotted to rebel and betray his country, but his cousin, Yuezheng Lang, exposed him.
After the plot failed, everyone turned against Sheng Changying. Not a single court official spoke up for him, and no one was willing to stand by his side.
Only Yue Minglou, who could easily have stayed out of it, chose to share his guilt. He hung a white silk noose and risked his life to protect his mother's family, sighing:
“When a student strays from the right path, the teacher is to blame. I ought to atone with my life.”
In Sheng Changying's eyes, Yue Minglou, the teacher to him and the other princes, was an absolute old-fashioned stickler: stern, upright, and never willing to compromise his principles.
He had thought that to his teacher, he was nothing but a rebellious, outrageous student who refused to be disciplined.
He had thought... that they could never walk the same path in this life.
After drinking the poisoned wine, he should have met his teacher in the underworld.
But when he opened his eyes again, he had returned to that rainy plum-blossom season.
Sheng Changying was asleep at his desk in the classroom. He sat up and looked up to see Yue Minglou approaching with a ruler in hand, his features so beautiful they captured Sheng Changying's heart.
Sheng Changying made a decision then and there.
He would find a chance to get Yue Minglou drunk, tie him up, and spend the night with him.
Later, he succeeded. When he woke up, he found a length of white silk hanging from the beam.
His teacher was trying to hang himself again.
Yue Minglou cried out in anguish: “As a subject, I have offended the Crown Prince. As a teacher, I have behaved improperly toward my student. My crimes are unforgivable. I ought to atone with my life!”
Sheng Changying: =.=
Reborn, he had no other thoughts.
First, let his enemies be drained of blood, reduced to bones, and scattered to the winds, and let the traitors suffer forever, their corpses left exposed in the wilderness.
Second, let the realm never fall into the hands of villains, and let the people live in health and peace.
Third, let him share a warm, fragrant wine with his teacher tomorrow, and never again waste precious years in frustration.
Sheng Changying, sitting on his teacher's lap: “Sir, there's an old saying: When the ruler wants his subject to sleep with him, the subject has no choice but to obey.”
Yue Minglou, tied up: “How dare you make up a quote and pass it off as a classic!”
A succubus-like, unscrupulous prince (later emperor) as the shou + a righteous, uptight, pure-hearted imperial tutor as the gong.
[Note]
The title and the third wish are both inspired by Li He's “The Bitterly Short Day”: “Fly, light, fly! I urge you to drink a cup of wine. I know not how high the blue sky is, nor how deep the yellow earth lies. I see only the moon's chill and the sun's warmth, as they consume men's years.”
The gong loves the shou, and the shou loves the gong. They loved each other in their past life and do so again in this one, with their mutual affection turned up to the max. But for various practical reasons, neither can bring themselves to say it, until the shou kicks the closet door off its hinges.
He is not literally a succubus. It's just his behavior, and only toward one person.
