Asuka was an utterly ordinary investigator.
One day, an old friend told him with a serious expression that he needed to find an information broker named Bourbon and get an important piece of intel from him.
The man was unpredictable and elusive, so Asuka would have to approach him carefully.
No problem. He was good at that.
He successfully infiltrated the organization Bourbon belonged to, under the codename Grog. The only hitch was that one of his blond colleagues kept trying to uncover his secret identity every day.
When he was the one who was supposed to uncover other people's secret identities!
Furuya was an utterly ordinary king of part-time jobs.
One day, his superior told him with a serious expression that a researcher named Asuka Sakuumi was highly suspicious and needed to be investigated thoroughly.
Not only that, the research group this man belonged to had reportedly captured a previously unknown life-form and, through it, brushed against the secret of immortality.
Honestly, Furuya didn't know if immortality was real, but the calluses on the man's hands and his superhuman reflexes definitely hadn't come from using pipettes in a lab.
And he was getting harder to deal with by the day.
He had to get to the bottom of this man's mysteries.

1. The protagonist is on the good guys' side, with no System. Pairing: Furuya Rei. Investigator x Public Security, two masters of secret identities constantly acting and trying to expose each other's covers.
2. Detective Conan meets Cthulhu. Conventional detective work and magical investigations are mixed together. The timeline has been heavily altered. Apologies for the OOC, and there are many original worldbuilding details.
3. The story isn't primarily about saving everyone, but the Police Academy group survives.
4. The blurb may be revised, but the core will stay the same.
