[Told in third person]
When I was young, I fell for a boy. He was tall and handsome, came from a wealthy family, and had a sunny, lively personality.
Because I liked him, even his flaws seemed like virtues to me. I understood all his quirks.
At first, my feelings took the form of a secret crush and tentative tests. Later, I grew braver and more blatant.
Unfortunately, the boy had yet to discover romance. He had no interest in the opposite sex and no fantasies about love. He was at the age when he most loved to play and misbehave.
Luckily, my feelings were rational, and I was optimistic and strong. Being rejected did not hurt as much as I had imagined.
But having the person I like right in front of me and still being unable to have him, while pretending to be just friends like before, is a little more than I can manage.
I left for an unfamiliar city and started a brand-new life. I made new friends, thrived, bought a car and a house, and enjoyed every day.
Later, I heard that he regretted it, and was looking for me, more or less on purpose.
Heh. Is that so?
Too bad I've almost forgotten about him.
Unless he pursues me and tells me to my face that he likes me, there's no way I'm going back.
