Tōru Oikawa travels all the way to Argentina to play volleyball and becomes an Argentine citizen. Lan Ci goes all the way to Argentina to study medicine. As someone of Japanese and Argentine descent, he already has Argentine citizenship. Tōru Oikawa shines on the volleyball court, setting the ball again and again to set up the Argentine men's team's attacks. Lan Ci shines in the medical room beside the court. His superb sports-injury recovery skills (his unique massage techniques) and practical knowledge of sports nutrition (delicious, nutritious meals) win over the whole team. Tendou was a strange kid from childhood. Nobody wanted to play with him except Xiaocang. As it happened, Xiaocang was strange too, and nobody wanted to play with him except Tendou. Tendou took up volleyball, using his ability to predict plays to jump and block on the court. Xiaocang took it up too, digging one spike after another with animal-like instincts and a monster's endurance and speed. This blocking-and-digging "system" struck fear into Shiratorizawa's opponents...

National team athletic trainer Iwaizumi Hajime gets a call from Nandao Youzhou, the new editor at Japan Sports Talk, a leading sports magazine, after Argentina and Japan's match. Nandao invites him and Lan Ci to do an interview on pre-match warmups, post-match recovery, and related topics. The interview marks the beginning of Iwaizumi becoming Nandao's favorite person. After all, good men who speak clearly and wittily without losing their composure, can take on Oikawa Tōru and write training notes, are hard to find!
