This novel's blurb:

My brother-in-law, Chen Yinhe, is the emperor, the supreme ruler and Son of Heaven.

When I was fourteen, I first met Chen Yinhe, who was still a young heir to the throne. One glimpse was enough to make me fall for him.

Three days later, I received the betrothal gifts he sent for my elder sister.

I cried bitterly and buried all my feelings.

A few days ago, my sister died in the palace.

A few days later, Chen Yinhe ordered me to enter the palace.

He stroked my head and said, "The two of you look about thirty percent alike, but your stubbornness is as if it came from the same mold."

At last, he called me by name. "A Tong, stay by my side and help me forget her."

The second take on the doppelganger trope is in my collection.

Twelve Years to Marry You

Mo Qijun thought her savior was the sort who seemed cold but was warmhearted underneath. She never expected him not only to deceive her, but also to use her.

What a heartless man!

Well, she thought, she could consider it repayment for saving her life.

With that, she turned and married the boy she'd loved since she was young.

Then one day, that heartless man showed up at her door again.

What did he want now?

Between the man who appeared out of nowhere and her childhood sweetheart, hadn't she already made her choice?

Lin Shuyun thought he had long since lost the ability to feel anything for anyone.

In his original plan, Mo Qijun's life had meant nothing to him.

He never expected it to begin with using her and end with falling for her.

Both times she left him, it broke his heart.

The first time, she chose to marry someone else. He was like a stray dog peeking at someone else's happiness, doing what he had always wanted to do but unable to focus, and could only numb himself with alcohol.

Drunk and unable to tell reality from illusion, he pinned her between his arms as she tried to escape. He pressed close, wrapped an arm around her slender waist, and lifted her pale chin.

His usually desireless eyes were full of wanting her to give him everything.

"A Qi, I was the one who saved your life."

A heated, deep kiss fell along with his hoarse voice.

"You belong to me."

The second time, she was at death's door. Holding her, he bent his usually straight back, and all his former pride and arrogance sank beneath his knees.

He threw himself into the search, asking renowned masters for help and begging his enemies, exhausting every means available to him.

At last, with nowhere else to turn, all color drained from his face. In utter despair, he prayed to the gods and Buddhas he had never believed in, asking to trade his life for hers.

"If I have nothing left to offer, then let my soul be the matchmaker and my spirit the betrothal gift. Let my bones become the brush, my blood stain the marriage contract. I will marry you for twelve years; may we never part, year after year."

Theme: If you love someone, love them bravely.
