Synopsis
[This novel will go on sale on July 14, starting with Chapter 36. If you've already read it, please don't buy it again.]
When they first met, Gu Wanxi mistook the decisive, battle-hardened top general before her for a fugitive of unknown identity. She personally sabotaged the marriage arrangement her family had made for her as a child.
She declared that they were a poor match, that she had no intention of fleeing for the rest of her life, and that they should have nothing to do with each other. Then she walked away without a second thought.
Not long afterward, the Luming Academy her grandfather had founded was burned to the ground. Countless people died or were injured, and Gu Wanxi was the only one left alive from the Gu family. The once pampered young lady was now insulted in the streets and treated with contempt everywhere she went.
Gu Wanxi wiped away her tears and quickly identified the culprit.
But the culprit was powerful and influential, so she had no choice but to seek out Nangong Shuo, the man she had refused to marry. She begged him to take her along on his campaign so she could get a chance to avenge her family.
The man looked coldly at her. "The army has never taken along people who have nothing to do with it. That's an ironclad military rule."
Determined to get what she wanted, Gu Wanxi immediately messed up her clothes, squeezed out a couple of tears, and grabbed the doorframe as if to open the door. "Now we have something to do with each other, don't we? If not, I'll call for help."
The usually impassive man's brows twitched twice.
But as soon as she was done using him, Gu Wanxi kicked him to the curb. She only remembered her bargain husband when she needed something.
She never expected that, just as she discovered the real culprit, the emperor would take a fancy to her and force her into the palace as one of his consorts. Gu Wanxi was at her wits' end.
*
Nangong Shuo had made a name for himself at a young age and served his country loyally, only to become a traitor overnight.
He fought his way into the imperial palace with sword in hand and stood before Gu Wanxi, ready to take her away.
By then, Gu Wanxi's conscience had finally stirred. She had made a deal with someone to protect Nangong Shuo and was forbidden to leave. Though she had a thousand things to say, all she managed was, "The food and lodgings in the palace are great. I'm not going to flee with you..."
Before she could finish, the man knocked her unconscious and carried her off, getting her deposed as a consort.
Later, the man rode off to conquer the realm, a living King of Hell whom no one dared provoke.
Gu Wanxi followed him everywhere. One day, while they were doing nothing in particular, she asked Nangong Shuo what he liked about her.
"Your shamelessness."

Note: One couple, one-on-one romance. Although the heroine entered the palace, she remained chaste and steadfast. Her romance with the hero begins after she is deposed.
New novel coming soon: The Princess Sent Away to Marry Wants a New Husband. Blurb:
When Feng Wenzhou and Lu Wenzhao first met, she was a peasant woman he had rescued from bandits. She took a fancy to her savior and spent every day either acting silly in front of him or trying to charm him.
Sometimes she would lie half-reclined on the ground, pretending to be pitiful so he would help her up. Sometimes she would suddenly pop out of the pool while he was bathing, her alluring wet hair and enchanting eyes fixed on him as she leaned in for a kiss. Terrified, he would cover his private parts and run away. Other times, she would lean against the doorframe with one shoulder bare, deliberately flirting with him until he broke out in goose bumps.
Feng Wenzhou couldn't take it anymore and just wanted her to leave, leave, leave. But when she really disappeared overnight, he felt strangely empty. Even the house seemed quieter than before.
When they met again, the peasant woman had transformed into a princess sent from another kingdom to marry the Crown Prince, the emperor's grandson.
Feng Wenzhou went mad. He rushed back to the court he had long left behind and urged the emperor not to approve the marriage under any circumstances.
The emperor spread his hands. "What, should I send her back?"
On her wedding night, Lu Wenzhao was finally about to meet her husband. But when her veil was lifted, the face before her belonged to Feng Wenzhou.
Lu Wenzhao froze, then smiled awkwardly but politely. "H-Husband?"
Feng Wenzhou sneered. "Little peasant woman, why did you stop being a peasant and become a princess?"
A little scene:
After they married, Feng Wenzhou set aside a courtyard for growing grain and raising cattle and sheep. Lu Wenzhao rolled up her sleeves, grabbed a hoe, and worked hard turning the soil. When she grew tired, she turned to look at Feng Wenzhou. He leisurely sipped his tea and raised an eyebrow. "Are you enjoying yourself, my dear?"
Lu Wenzhao nodded miserably. "I am, I am."
Feng Wenzhou said, "If you enjoy it, then enjoy it even more." With that, he had someone bring in two baskets of silkworms.
Lu Wenzhao stared at the baskets of silkworms, then at the row of mulberry trees she had planted not long ago. She was on the verge of tears.
