I Wanted to Retire in the Detective World, but Became a Workaholic

[Pre-Release: The blurb for "The True Liquor's Self-Rescue Equation" is at the very end.] Blurb: One day, Zao Wu Mi Ye wakes up and finds himself inexplicably bound to a System. The System explains that this is a comic-book world in the process of transitioning into reality. Since it hasn't fully taken shape yet, the protagonist can no longer rely on plot armor and might even die. But if the protagonist dies before the world settles into its final form, the world will be trapped in a deadly time loop lasting 3,650 days a year! The only way to stabilize the world is to raise its safety rating above 80. Zao Wu Mi Ye has always been working toward retirement, and is willing to take several jobs to make it happen. So where's the protagonist? Where are the missions? And where's the morality??? If this keeps up, will he have to take ten jobs!!! Then the System realizes that many of the missions have already been completed. System: The biggest reason the safety rating is so low is a supervillain organization called the Liquor Factory, so we need to... Mi Ye: Huh? But my undercover agent A is about to become the Liquor Factory's second-in-command. System: ? Mi Ye: If we take out their Top Killer, my undercover agent B can take his place. System: ?? Mi Ye: By the way, I also turned their organization's BLABLABLA... System: ??? Mi Ye: Actually, we'll be closing the net in a few months... Anyway, where's the protagonist? I'll go find him right now. System: . Feels like we don't even need to worry about the protagonist anymore. 1. This is a return-to-writing story. The main story ends with no pairing, but the extra chapters establish a pairing, which has already been decided: Toru. 2. The protagonist is adored by everyone. There will be one-sided crushes, and he's the smartest character in the whole story. No fake deaths or clones, and he doesn't hide things unless necessary. He's firmly on the good side and won't switch sides, though he does have an onion-like identity situation, like Toko. 3. Original characters will have roles, while the System is mostly in the background. The plot described in the blurb appears in the middle to later part of the story. There are no forum posts or live comments. 4. Mom says important things have to come in fives. I'll add the rest when I think of them. [Some character card images were generously contributed by the beautiful, kind, and wise BS gugu community members. They are not exclusive.] [Pre-Release: "The True Liquor's Self-Rescue Equation" features a completely different version of Mi Ye, on the Black side.] Zao Wu Mi Ye opens his eyes and realizes he's lost his memory again. Hmm? Why again? Not only has he lost his memory, there are also two "people" arguing in his head. A says: [I'm the System. The Detective Conan world is about to collapse. Please help me.] B says: [I'm your alternate personality. Don't believe the nonsense from the other guy. He's the one who made the world collapse!] Zao Wu Mi Ye: You're so noisy. I'll just block you both for now and deal with this after I get my memories back. Fortunately, Zao Wu Mi Ye soon meets... a group of people who can help him find clues to his lost memories. A blond, dark-skinned waiter: "You're a Public Security undercover agent inside the Black Organization." [Lie.] A blue-eyed shopkeeper in disguise: "You once saved me of your own accord." [Lie.] A curly-haired man in sunglasses: "We've known each other since we were kids." [Lie.] A young man with violet eyes and half-long hair: "Little Mi Ye is such a dummy." [Wrong. I clearly saw through every "lie" you told me.] Just then, a silver-haired Top Killer comes to see him. "You grew up in the organization. The Boss personally chose you as his successor." [True.] Zao Wu Mi Ye blinks. But why does he want to believe the lies more? 1. This story includes plot about Black Shin being brainwashed (also known as Black Conan), though it doesn't take up much of the story. The Liquor Factory gets an epic power-up, and the good guys nearly get wiped out, though no one dies. Please proceed with caution if that bothers you. 2. The memory-loss plot in the blurb appears in the middle to later part of the story. The System is mostly in the background, and there are no forum posts or live comments. 3. Original characters will appear. The protagonist is the smartest character in the whole story, and he doesn't use clones. 4. You don't need to have read the first Mi Ye story to enjoy this one. Theme: I hope everyone can see the light and pursue it, rather than fall into darkness.
