[I'll start this after finishing the one next door. Expected in November.]
Luo Si is the weakest of the innate gods, hated by all living beings, and his path to maturity is riddled with stumbling blocks.
With nowhere left to turn, he opens the Book of Reincarnation. As the words flow past, Luo Si suddenly understands the direction fate is pointing him: enter the game himself, use feigned affection to win true devotion, and turn his nemesis into an ally.
I'm sorry for using you; what a shame I don't love you.
Book of Reincarnation: You gods call this a nemesis? How come he comes running as soon as you crook a finger...
Nemesis: We love each other so much. How did we end up missing each other in every life?
Book of Reincarnation: Well... you brought this on yourself. (Can't exactly say that little Luo Si was acting from beginning to end.)
"There is a kind of person in this world who is born to wealth and honors, yet cares for all under heaven. They produce miraculous medicine when plague runs rampant, defy fate to reopen the path to immortality when it is cut off, seal the gates of the underworld when ghosts wreak havoc among the living, fight bravely when war breaks out, and destroy the virus when the apocalypse arrives... They are known as saviors.
And you are their partner:
The five-colored sacred deer, carved up and bled dry
The sole immortal artifact, reforged into a ladder to heaven
The thousand-year-old ghost king, sacrificed for his cultivation
The frail flower spirit, drained of her source
The zombie emperor, whose genes were extracted
..."
Book of Reincarnation
* Conquest of the spirited young general, Lu Guilin
The general meets a sacred deer on an immortal mountain, and one breathtaking glance binds him to a lifetime of sorrow.
"The immortal mountain is lonely. Come with me to the mortal world. I'll show you its thousands of miles of splendid landscapes and the gentle glow of everyday life."
In the end, the general who promised to protect the sacred deer carves up his flesh and bleeds him dry. "I'm sorry, but we have to save the countless lives in this world."
The immortal mountain opens once every hundred years. They will never meet again in this life.
* Conquest of the proud, rigid leader of the righteous path: The Sword Breaks, the People Disperse
The foremost of the immortal world, Sword Venerable Qingcang, searches the world for treasures and spends a thousand years forging the greatest divine sword. "A sword cultivator's sword is worth more than life itself. It must be protected at all costs."
A sword cultivator's sword is the love of his life.
But no one has ascended in the immortal realm for a thousand years. In the end, the Sword Venerable uses his divine sword to restore the path to ascension.
* Conquest of the exorcist who slays demons and defends the righteous path: The Living and the Dead Belong to Different Worlds
The greatest Heavenly Master of the millennium has a beloved who died unjustly and too young. He devotes himself to learning mystic arts so they can be together again, willing even to love a ghost.
"With all I have learned in this life, I summon my beloved's soul home. This disciple is willing to leave the cycle of reincarnation forever."
In the end, the balance between yin and yang is disrupted and the gates of the underworld open. The Heavenly Master strips his beloved of his cultivation, all to help seal the gates.
* Conquest of the cool, beautiful major general who presents as an omega but pretends to be a beta: We Shall Never Meet Again in Life or Death
The omega major general has a delicate, beautiful alpha husband. Having bested all her rivals, the omega is full of confidence: "Of course I'll spoil my own alpha. If anyone makes you unhappy, I'll beat them until they cry for their mommy!"
But protecting the child the omega abandoned drains the alpha's source. When the new general returns from the battlefield, he finds his family broken apart.
* Conquest of the hot-tempered, loyal esper: All Abominations Must Be Destroyed
The strongest esper protects his ordinary boyfriend, taking wonderful care of him in the apocalypse and spoiling him without limit: "Anyone who wants to hurt you will have to step over my dead body!"
Yet the man who promised to protect him extracts his boyfriend's genes: "Only the Zombie Emperor's blood can be used to develop an antiviral serum."
Luo Si is still unsatisfied. Do we need one more dose of something potent?
Let the Book of Reincarnation write a sixth world: Dark Elf gong vs. church's holy son shou.
Luo Si: "Let's make a bet this time, Holy Son. Your attempt to hunt me down won't succeed again."
I've played this game with you long enough. It's time to end it...
The sixth world reveals the reason (you can guess the god's identity), and the gong achieves his goal. The extra chapter explains what happens afterward and shows the first meeting from the shou's perspective (not in any of the worlds above).
A few things to know:
1. The gong dies, the shou goes mad, and the ending is a tragic bad ending. The shou pursues and spoils the gong, but hurts him in the process, earning a place in the crematorium. The gong always sees the shou as his nemesis, while the shou has genuinely loved the gong all along.
2. It's the same person from beginning to end. The gong's name stays the same, while the shou's changes. The gong takes part in these scenarios for his own reasons and treats the shou purely as a tool.
3. I don't have anything against saviors. I just wanted to write this from the perspective of the ones sacrificed. Thanks!
4. Whether they have a physical relationship is undecided in three worlds; suggestions are welcome. It doesn't happen in the first or sixth world, but it does happen with the flower spirit.
Theme: You dwell in the highest heavens, while I reside at the edge of the world. We shall never meet again, in life or death.
