The first "SY" (Surreal Body) appeared in Los Angeles on August 13, 2201.
It brought an enormous catastrophe that could not be avoided. Countries around the world quickly and secretly established Surreal Containment Zones (SCZs), selecting talent from scientific fields, the military, and academia, with the aim of eliminating that SY.
No one expected that SYs would not only possess immense power, but could also cause mental contamination, making people lose their reason. There was another piece of bad news: far more than one SY existed on Earth.
How had they appeared? On September 13, one month after the incident was discovered, Russia's SCZ put forward a theory.
At first, they had only been ordinary organisms or ordinary objects. But after absorbing a certain chemical substance capable of causing contamination, they mutated, and even developed consciousness, becoming the terrifying SYs.
Fortunately, as SYs began appearing in large numbers, a tiny number of "superpowered individuals" emerged among the population, able to fight them. The one thing they had in common was that they had all encountered SYs. It was worth noting, however, that most people who had come into contact with an SY, even if they had only seen one or been touched by one, ultimately died in agony. Those who survived and gained some of their abilities were generally exceptionally strong and possessed extraordinary willpower.
In October 2201, people stopped hearing any news about SYs and lost their memories of those two months.
No one would ever know how many people had sacrificed themselves in the catastrophe.
Had the disaster really disappeared? The Earth was in ruins, and danger lurked everywhere.
