Forensic pathologist Xiao Qiang transmigrated into the body of a household servant in the Duke of Anguo's manor, assigned to care for the young lady. Though she was a maid, she had a good life. The kindhearted Duke of Anguo let her eat and sleep alongside his daughter, her honest and generous parents doted on her, and the young lady treated her as her only friend.
Being a maid wasn't so bad.
Just as Xiao Qiang was happily settling into a life of doing nothing, a group of bandits attacked the Duke of Anguo's manor in the dead of night. In a single night, the manor ran with blood, and more than a hundred people were slaughtered. Hiding in a cabinet, Xiao Qiang witnessed the black-clad assailants' murderous rampage and became the sole survivor.
To avenge her parents and the family she served, Xiao Qiang took the young lady's identity. The emperor brought her back to the palace to raise her, and from then on Xiao Qiang became Rong Qingzhi.
People said that Commandery Princess Qingzhi had a strange temperament. She had fine clothes and rich food at her disposal, yet instead of enjoying them, she went around in public all day investigating cases with a group of constables. They even said she frequented the public mortuary... So what if the emperor had granted her the privilege to work with the Court of Judicial Review? What a waste of her stunning beauty.
Rong Qingzhi paid no mind to the rumors. The Court of Judicial Review was the highest authority for handling criminal cases, where she could examine the widest variety of crimes. She was certain that one day she would uncover the truth behind the massacre at the Duke of Anguo's manor with her own hands and deliver justice for the dead!
