[Basketball Star x Business Tycoon] [Groveling Ex / Seven-Year Age Gap] (Blurb to be polished)
Ye Simian was sixteen when she met Xu Huaixi.
The basketball in her hands bounced off the roof of his car, leaving her so startled she didn't know what to do.
The window of the black Bentley rolled halfway down. The man held a cigarette between his fingers and turned his head to light it, glancing at her with casual indifference.
"You're good at basketball."
.
Ye Simian had just turned twenty in the year she spent with Xu Huaixi.
The young woman had blossomed into a graceful beauty, with fair skin and long legs. She had all the makings of a star. Even Xu Huaixi, who had seen more than his share of beautiful women, often couldn't help complimenting her.
Like other rich young men, he was surrounded by nightlife and beautiful women, but there was something different about him.
Ye Simian merely leaned against him and asked, "Can a relationship like ours ever see the light of day?"
Xu Huaixi proposed to her on the spot.
On his thirtieth birthday, his friends teased him for getting married so young, then pulled out their phones to look up his wife:
Ye Simian, star player on the Flying Eagles.
2018, Jiangxia City champion.
2019, national competition champion.
... ...
"Holy crap, Huaixi, your wife is incredible! Why'd she give up such a bright future and get married right after graduation?"
"I heard her family isn't well-off. With all your money, being Mrs. Xu must have been a quick way to get rich, huh?"
"There are plenty of girls like her. Don't let her play you."
Xu Huaixi silently stubbed out his cigarette and lit another. His features were hard to make out through the smoke.
-
The day his company went bankrupt, Ye Simian drank with him all night and said with a smile that she'd support him from then on.
To help him pay off his debts, the young woman sold her medals and worked three jobs from dawn till night. She delivered packages and worked as a bartender.
One day, she carried a case of beer to a private room. Through the half-open door, she saw a familiar man sitting in the middle of the sofa.
Dim light fell on his face, outlining his striking, composed features.
"Huaixi, someone saw your wife handing out flyers on the street a few days ago. Isn't this taking things a bit far?"
The man merely smiled, unconcerned, and said nothing.
-
Ye Simian didn't go home. She sat on a park bench and let the wind blow over her all night.
The next day, Xu Huaixi received a divorce agreement.
He thought the young woman was just throwing another tantrum, so he didn't take it seriously.
He had no idea she'd be gone for five years.
-
Five years later, Xu Huaixi was still a business tycoon making headlines for his love life, while Ye Simian had won the national championship.
On the podium, she smiled as she received the applause and flowers. Her bright eyes sparkled in the sunlight, radiant and spirited.
Someone noticed the biggest sponsor of the competition sitting below the stage and asked her about him.
But Ye Simian gazed at the most dazzling man in the crowd and simply smiled.
"I'm not close with Mr. Xu."
That night, the usually unflappable man lost control. He cornered her beside his car, his gaze dark and intense.
"You grew up and got successful, so you don't need a husband anymore?"
