The Grim Reaper Retires and Starts a New Career

After working in the underworld for eight hundred years, Zhong Ci finally received his retirement certificate from the Underworld HR department.

For his outstanding performance over the past eight hundred years, he was granted special permission to return to the mortal world.

From then on, he used ghost arts to sustain his existence by feeding on human fear.

His soul might endure, but his body was a paper doll that would break at the slightest touch.

To "get stronger" and survive in this world, he needed to devour more of mortals' fear.

And so, after losing his job, Boss Zhong began expanding his business in the mortal realm: livestreaming fortune-telling, guiding people through terrifying dungeons, and solving paranormal incidents along the way.

Then the statue of the Ghost Arts Patriarch enshrined in his office, which was basically a figurine, suddenly came to life.

The Ghost King had transmigrated from ancient times to the modern world in search of his one and only little apprentice... who was also his ex-boyfriend.

Qingchen: "Little Wen Official Ci, why did you quit the Underworld?"

Zhong Ci: "I retired, thank you very much."

Qingchen: "The mortal world is full of pure energy. Your soul will dissipate! Why don't you let your master give you a hand..."

Zhong Ci: "We broke up. Don't bother me, thanks."

His ex was his master, the Patriarch, and even his adoptive father, but they weren't close.

The Patriarch paid no heed to that and simply stuck by his side. By day, he kept pretending to be a figurine; by night, he became the Ghost King and worked for his little apprentice.

Two ghosts descend to the mortal realm, devour fear, and help people survive their trials.
