A Summer Romance

[I'll come back to this after I finish the one next door, hehe. It might be a short story of a hundred thousand words or however many thousand words (probably).]

.

Xu Mingran considers herself a shut-in.

She doesn't like going out or socializing. If she didn't have to find a job to make ends meet, she'd even want to stay home for the rest of her life.

Just imagine a rainy day, lying in bed with a tablet, watching anime, playing games, or reading novels, with the bedside table piled high with snacks...

It's hard to imagine a more wonderful day.

Xu Mingran had thought more than once that she, her bed, and her tablet could live happily ever after together, and that was all that mattered.

.

Then, during a handover at work, Xu Mingran saw the desktop of Gu Qi, the new guy in the art department next door. It seemed to be a live2D animation of her wife, Elaina...

Before she knew it, the words "my wife" had slipped out.

Realizing a beat too late what she'd said, Xu Mingran hurriedly covered her mouth.

.

At the same moment, the new guy looked up, his expression briefly stunned, and met her somewhat evasive gaze.

A few seconds later.

The man, who had been all business and ready to discuss work with her, seemed to finally realize what was going on.

He casually grabbed a pen from his desk, struck a grade-schooler attack pose at Xu Mingran, and said in a stern voice, "Rival in love, prepare to fight!"

Xu Mingran: "...?"

.

But just a few months later,

Xu Mingran never imagined that this "rival in love" of hers would become her...

Boyfriend.

And the "three of us" she'd longed for would turn into...

The "four of us" (x)

.

Probably another slice-of-life diary kind of story, oho.

I may revise it whenever I feel like it, hehe.

.

A palate cleanser / self-indulgent comfort food / nonsense workplace setting / irregular updates / just writing for fun =v=

*Elaina is the heroine of the anime Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina.
