Winter Clothes, Journey to the Palace

[I've been feeling a little uncertain lately, so updates are temporarily on hold. I'll fill in the missing parts later, and I may revise the story, too.]

Check out Qingqing's His Highness Successfully Staged a Rebellion Today, a cool, straightforward male lead * a gentle, steadfast female lead. It's so good!

[Blurb]: Someone suddenly hijacks you with a huge sword and tells you that you'll die horribly before long, and that she's here to save you. It doesn't sound believable at all, and Yun Pei doesn't believe her either.

But later, when Lu Ren said she'd always stand by his side, Yun Pei found himself longing for a little spring sunshine.

She said she knew what would happen to him after his death. That was why Lu Ren was kind to him: the Yun Pei in her memories had died a horrible death.

She said he was a good person. That man had taught her to read and given her a bead.

In her account, Yun Pei was gentle and kind, living a life of struggle, pain, and guilt, with no desire to go on.

Like spring apricot blossoms, like reed flowers: Lu Ren didn't know how to describe it.

But Yun Pei knew. Like a drooping flower branch soaked by rain, damp and heavy, it stirred ripples in Lu Ren's heart from time to time. Like the moon at dawn, neither hot nor dazzling, yet somehow still hanging lifelessly in the sky.

But how could he compete with a version of himself who was already dead?

"The dead are only good for remembering. The living are the ones you can get tangled up with."

Lu Ren was an ordinary person. Time rushed by, the years never turned back, and few people ever stopped for her.

Lu Ren wasn't a particularly good person, either. She was born in a bandit's den. After it was wiped out, she lived as a beggar, sold horses, and even killed people for money. She wandered from place to place with a knife on her back, eventually finding a meager living as an executioner.

One day, she met someone and immediately drew her knife and hijacked him along with his horse.

He was foolish and naive, but that didn't stop him from being a good person.

A good person shouldn't lose his head on the execution ground over some trivial romance. She didn't know what else to do, so she could only take him as far away as possible.

And then? Stop him from having a tragic encounter with someone else. Really, all she wanted was for him to live. It didn't matter who he fell in love with.

It's only natural to develop feelings for a good person, but it's also a little despicable.

2. The male lead has never loved anyone else.

3. The female lead is reborn, but doesn't really feel that she has been reborn. It's more like she's an NPC in a repeating world, endlessly reliving the same events.

I started writing this on a whim. I haven't finished the outline for How to Survive Until the Ending Without a Script, so I'm starting this one first. It won't be very long. I probably won't write three or four hundred thousand words.
