A disclaimer and a whole stack of caveats: The game is LOL, and the characters are powerful rivals with no real-life inspirations. The competition format and systems have been heavily altered and are not rigorous at all, so just read for fun. Some match scenes are adapted from real-life material. I wrote this after getting worked up watching matches (in short, I got tilted), and all I wanted was to win, win, win, win, win.

Some characters featured in the novel have their own backstories. The three novels share a universe. This is the first one; the other two are The World Champion Chooses to Change Careers [Esports] and Between the Cracks.

This was the author's first book on Jinjiang, and many aspects weren't handled well. The writing isn't particularly melodramatic, and the romance is a slow burn. The matches are played in a calm, steady manner, and the overall plot is somewhat uneventful.
