After his parents died, Touya Matsushita was passed from one relative to another, with no one willing to take responsibility for raising him. One night, after enduring one too many cold stares, the six-year-old vanished.
A year later, he was found covered in wounds in the deep forests of Mount Kurama and taken to an orphanage.
Some said he had been spirited away by the gods; others said he had been kidnapped by bad people and escaped. In any case, his memory loss turned that year of his life into a mystery.
Only he knows that every full moon, he becomes a bird in his dreams and flies freely through a quiet forest. More than anything, he longs to return to that mysterious place.
Touya once thought this wish would never come true, until he happened to attend a festival's archery ritual and saw a beautiful sight unlike anything he had ever seen, one he could never forget.
Important notes and content warnings you must read:
This story is currently updated sporadically.
Any out-of-character writing is my responsibility; the characters belong to their original works.
This is a crossover between Natsume's Book of Friends and The Hypothesis of Professor Takatsuki.
This is neither a pure sports story nor a healing tale about monsters. It has melodramatic plot elements, in my opinion, so please stop reading if you feel uncomfortable.
I'm a slow writer, and this story is a writing exercise. My prose is at an elementary-school level. If you find it uncomfortable to read, please don't force yourself, and please don't leave comments saying you're dropping it. Until we meet again, if fate allows OvO
