Blurb:
Mu Qifeng transmigrates with a redemption System into the xianxia epic The Immortal Way, becoming a cannon-fodder villain who shares her name.
The villain is a heinous criminal, hunted by the righteous sects. After causing trouble for ten volumes, she is finally killed by the protagonists working together. Yet she isn't even the main villain, just a little pawn controlled by the real big boss.
With her fate in someone else's hands, she has no choice but to follow the System's instructions, attempting to complete its missions and escape its control.
But nothing works. No matter what she tries, her character seems doomed to mechanically follow the original storyline.
[Mission failed. Resetting the world. This is your last chance, Host. Make the most of it.]
Mu Qifeng silently sneers and strips the System of its authority.
Once free of the System's "protection," Mu Qifeng discovers a far greater secret...
Churches with wildly differing doctrines, the malice of Heaven's Will, bizarrely unlucky fate, the gods' mischief, the Immortal Alliance's ambitions, the many sects harboring ulterior motives, visitors from beyond the heavens watching hungrily, the crumbling Chulan Continent, gazes from the stars, sticky murmurs and whispers...
Nameless! Unspeakable! Unhearable!
The gods cannot be defeated. Fate cannot be changed. The great clans cannot be overcome.
But if nothing can be defeated, what does all her effort mean?
Mu Qifeng refuses to accept it.
So she reshuffles every faction, tears up the script, kills the gods, and single-handedly drives the Chulan Continent toward its end.
"Since I'm forsaken by the gods and you're a traitor to them, why don't we work together and overturn this awful world?" The black-haired girl smiles as she extends her invitation.
Her companion smiles faintly and accepts, speaking in a lilting, almost singsong voice. "Of course. We are, after all, a match made in heaven."
Later, the protagonists charged with maintaining the world's order confront Mu Qifeng. They look at their savior, the demon king in Heaven's Will's eyes, with complex, unreadable expressions. The one at their head struggles to speak. "Qifeng, why would you do this?"
Mu Qifeng shrugs indifferently. "Because I hate this screwed-up world and its twisted laws."
The person falls silent for a moment. Perhaps they are shocked to witness such a spectacular case of split personalities, or perhaps it is something else. At last, they speak with tragic resolve. "Qifeng, I don't want to go on like this... I want to join you."
Mu Qifeng: "?"
If Heaven's Will knew that its trump card would defect in an instant, after just one encounter, its expression would surely be priceless.
Sadly, she has no time to see it.
She really is terribly disappointed about that. Really.
Reader's Guide:
1. This is the story of an ordinary girl with a difficult fate who grows into a triumphant, overpowered female lead (and dark demon queen), changing her own fate through her efforts and, along the way, changing the fates of those around her.
2. A high-magic, high-martial-power cultivation world, with heaps of author-created lore. No outline, writing by the seat of my pants. The overall tone is probably a passionate power fantasy with a strong female lead and a touch of ensemble cast. The story follows the theme of fate.
3. Couple: An inhuman god, the one mentioned in the blurb. Clear-eyed yet crazy x a masked, fun-loving prankster. A little lunatic and something indescribable. I call them a match made in heaven.
4. The female lead is not a good person! Not a saint! She's following the villain's script! If the female lead at the beginning seems completely unlike the one described in the blurb, here's some context: her real personality hasn't been revealed yet. Of course, the real reason is that I didn't handle the early chapters well, and the writing is a mess, so her character doesn't come through.
5. My take on xianxia. Cultivation levels, from lowest to highest: Xuan Zhao, Kai Guang, Rong He, Xin Dong, Ling Ji, Yuan Ying, Chu Qiao, Fen Shen, He Ti, Du Jie, Da Cheng.
Theme: That clear-eyed, nearly mad obsession lets me exist forever. I am the master of my own fate and the helmsman of my own soul, not a pawn toyed with by so-called gods of fate.
